According to a report by China News Service on December 10th, the Quartz Sand Industry Development Research Center was inaugurated in Xiangyin County, Hunan Province. Simultaneously, the on-site meeting on the high-quality development of Xiangyin's quartz sand industry and the commissioning ceremony of Lesheng New Materials were held.

"Dongting Lake is rich in high-quality quartz mineral resources, with proven sand and gravel reserves reaching 26 billion tons. Due to the high quartz content, it is relatively easy to extract and produce low-iron quartz sand, a key raw material for photovoltaic glass," an official from the Quartz Sand Industry Development Research Center introduced.

As a major national production base for river sand and gravel, Xiangyin County has the largest recoverable quartz ore reserves in the Dongting Lake area. Tests show that the silica content of river pebbles in Xiangyin exceeds 99.91%, and the yield rate of magnetic separation and flotation is over 98.7%, with excellent quality. The commissioned project of Hunan Lesheng New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. has a total investment of 500 million yuan, and it is the first production line in Hunan Province and even the whole country to extract quartz sand from river pebbles for industrialization, large-scale and industrial production.
It is reported that the local government is striving to blaze a new trail in the quartz sand industry, and aims to build the quartz sand industry into a 10-billion-yuan-level pillar industrial cluster within 5 years, making it an important high-quality silicon material base and ultra-white photovoltaic glass quartz sand production base in Hunan Province and even the whole country.
